1. Name the task and connection

Use your own device in a stationary setting where disconnecting it will not interrupt an important task. Start with one existing file and app. No results are pre-filled.

2. Prepare the task

  • I chose an existing file/app and downloaded the needed content over my usual connection.
  • I waited for the download and opened the actual content.
  • I chose a specific action, such as opening a particular manual page.
  • I can restore the test device’s original connection settings.

3. Disconnect the test device

  • Wi-Fi is off in settings.
  • Cellular data is off, or this device has none.
  • Network cables and USB/Bluetooth tethering are disconnected or absent.
  • I checked for another active network connection.
  • I closed and reopened the app, then repeated the specific action.

4. Record the actual result

Use these labels: worked / failed / inconclusive / not tested. Record a specific action and exact message, not a rating for the entire app.

5. Optional local-network check

Skip if you do not already have a suitable network. Use your own existing network with no internet uplink and a documented local feature. Do not interrupt a shared connection, reset equipment, or change security or permissions.
